Dilip Kumar

Dilip S Kumar (born 11 December 1922, as Muhammad Yusuf Khan) is an Indian film actor known as Tragedy King,  and described as “the ultimate method actor” by Satyajit Ray. He debuted as an actor in the film Jwar Bhata in 1944 produced by Bombay Talkies. His career has spanned over six decades and with over 60 films. He starred in films of a variety of genres such as the romantic Andaz (1949), the swashbuckling Aan (1952), the dramatic Devdas (1955), the comical Azaad (1955), the historical Mughal-e-Azam (1960) and the social Ganga Jamuna (1961).

In 1976, Dilip Kumar took a five-year break from film performances and returned with a character role in the film Kranti (1981) and continued his career playing character roles in films such as Shakti (1982), Karma (1986) and Saudagar (1991). His last film was Qila (1998). Dilip Kumar has acted with actress Vyjayanthimala the most, where they both had acted seven films together including the former’s home production Ganga Jamuna resulting in great on-screen chemistry and an alleged affair between them.

The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan award in 1991 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 for his contributions towards Indian cinema and nominated him to Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Indian parliament for a term. He is the first recipient of Filmfare Best Actor Award (1954) and shares the record for the most number of Filmfare awards won for that category with Shahrukh Khan with eight wins. Critics acclaimed him among one of the greatest actors in the history of Hindi cinema. In a blog post,Amitabh Bachchan has described Dilip Kumar as the greatest actor ever.

Scenario 1 : Two guys are fighting & a third guy comes along, sees them and walks on.. That’s MUMBAI..
Scenario 2 : Two guys are fighting & a third guy comes along and tries to make peace.. The first two get together and beat him up.. That’s DELHI.
Scenario 3 : Two guys fighting and third guy comes nearby house and says “don’t fight in front of my place, go somewhere else.”  That’s PUNE.. 
Scenario 4 : Two guys are fighting. A crowd gathers to watch.. A guy comes along and quietly opens a tea stall there  That’s AHEMDABAD.
Scenario 5 : Two guys are fighting. Both of them take time out & call their friends on their mobiles..  Now 50 guys are fighting.. You are in PUNJAB.
Scenario 6 : Two guys fighting. Third guy comes and shoots both of them..  You are in Bihar.
Last Scenario : Two guys fighting third guy comes along with a carton of beer.. All sit together drink beer and abuse each other and go home as friends.. You are definitely in GOA…

She is one of the best-known and most respected playback singers in India. Mangeshkar’s career started in 1942 and has spanned over seven decades. She has recorded songs for over a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over thirty-six regional Indian languages and foreign languages, though primarily in Marathi and Hindi. She is the elder sister of singers Asha Bhosle, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar Meena Mangeshkar. She is the second vocalist to have ever been awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour.

Mangeshkar was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records from 1974 to 1991 for having made the most recordings in the world. The claim was that she had recorded approximately 25,000 solo, duet, and chorus-backed songs in 20 Indian languages between 1948 to 1974. The category was removed in 1991 and re-introduced in 2011. In 2011 Guinness officially acknowledged Mangeshkar’s sister Asha Bhosle as the most recorded artist in music history.

He is the son of actor and screenwriter Salim Khan, Khan began his acting career with Biwi Ho To Aisi but it was his second film Maine Pyar Kiya in which he acted in a lead role that garnered him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. Khan has starred in several commercially successful films, such as Saajan (1991), Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994),Karan Arjun(1995), Judwaa (1997), Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998), Biwi No.1 (1999), and Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999), having appeared in the highest grossing film nine separate years during his career, a record that remains unbroken.
In 1999, Khan won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his extended guest appearance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). In 2011, he won the Screen Award for Best Actor for his performance in Dabangg and in 2013, he won the Best Actor Popular Choice for his performances in Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2 
Eight of the films he has acted in, have accumulated gross earnings of over INR1 billion(US$15 million) worldwide. He played leading roles in five consecutive blockbusters namely Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, and Dabangg 2. He has starred in more than 80 Hindi films and thus far has established himself as a leading actor of Hindi cinema.
